Addendum to Tronix 1 Lab Book

ADDENDUM TO TRONIX BOOK 2 (Green Cover)

Tronix 2 (Green Book)

Page 10b  -  on inventory Resistor 1.2k should show Brown, Red, Red, Gold

Page 12b  -  Under Circuit Description, C1 is 47 mfd not 10 mfd.

Page 13b  -  in the parts list a 4.7uf capacitor is called for. But, in the schematic and pictorial diagram a 47uf capacitor is shown. I believe the 47uf is correct. With a

4.7uf the flash rate is so fast it is difficult to count the pulses. Also, be careful installing

capacitor C2, it should be connected to pin 5 and ground.

Page 14b -  in CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION paragraph, “This experiment consists of a common cathode Seven Segment LED with pin 3 …… we do not connect anything to pin 8. (this error is throughout the book)

Page 19a -  The schematic shows pin 10 of the 4029 connected to pin 10 of the 4011.  This is an error.  Pin 10 of the 4029 should only be connected to pin 4 of the 4011.

Also, the pictorial on Page 19a shows a wire from pin 10 of the 4029 connected to pin 10 on the 4011.  Disconnect this wire from pin 10 of the 4011 and connect it to pin 4 of the 4011.

Page 22a, on the schematic, the 150K ohm resistor should be labeled R4.

Page 22b, the formula for the Length of the Pulse Train should read: L = R4 times C3.

And the blink rate should be 10 pulses per second for about 17-21 seconds.

Page 26a, R1 should be 16K ohms, not 100K.

Page 27a, resistor R1 should be 16k ohms, not 100k.

Page 29b, the colors on the 560 ohm resistor should be Green, Blue, Brown, Gold.

Page 30a, on the schematic, there should be a wire drawn from the anode of the three diodes, D1, D2, D3 to pin 6 of the 4511.

Page 30b, put in an additional wire from pin 2 of the 4029 to the upper end of R4.  This wire connects pin 2 to pin 1 of the 4029.

Page 31b, the 6.8k resistor should be Blue, Gray, Red, Gold.

Page 32b, the 6.8k resistor should be Blue, Gray, Red, Gold

Page 34b, the 6.8k resistor should be Blue, Gray, Red, Gold Page 34a, add a jumper wire from Pin 1 of the 4015 to Pin 3 of the 555.
